Thembani Mabasa – Founder
Thembani, holds an MBA from Nottingham University Business School (UK), a BCom Honours degree in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management from the University of Cape Town and a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of Cape Town.
He is the former Group Head of Properties at Akani Properties, a property development, investment and management company with an estimated market portfolio value exceeding R4bn. During his tenure at Akani Properties, he was responsible for the operational management of a portfolio of prime core assets across commercial, hospitality, residential, and health care.
He reported directly to the board of trustees on the performance of the property portfolio and new investment opportunities. In terms of operational matters, he reported directly to the Managing Director and constituted part of Akani Properties’ executive management. At Akani Properties, achievements include the successful acquisition of a 48000 m2 gross lettable Nicol Way shopping mall for R1.2bn and the R650mill development of a 150-key Radisson Hotel and 1000-seater conference centre in Middleburg, Mpumalanga Province.
